Jin had a wiggly tooth. It moved when he touched it.

At lunch, Jin ate a crunchy apple. Crunch! His tooth came out.

Jin put the tooth in his pocket. At home, he showed it to his mom.

Mom said, "Look at your big smile with a little hole in it!" Jin laughed and laughed.

The question

Read the question and the three answers aloud to your child.

Where did Jin put his tooth?

  • in his lunch box
  • under his pillow
  • in his pocketCorrect answer

Why “in his pocket” is correct

The story says "Jin put the tooth in his pocket." "Under his pillow" is the tempting choice because of the tooth fairy, so this checks whether your child answers from the story or from what they already know. If they pick the pillow, agree that lots of children do that, and then ask what Jin did in this story.

Why the other answers are wrong

  • in his lunch box — The lunch box fits the lunch setting, but the story does not say the tooth went there.
  • under his pillow — Many families put a lost tooth under a pillow, so this is the strongest guess from experience. The story says pocket.
