Lupe went to the park with her dad. They had a red kite.
The wind was strong. The kite went up, up, up into the sky.
Then the wind stopped. The kite fell down into a bush.
Dad pulled the kite out of the bush. Soon the wind came back, and the kite flew again.
The question
Read the question and the three answers aloud to your child.
Who got the kite out of the bush?
- Lupe
- a dog
- DadCorrect answer
Why “Dad” is correct
The story says "Dad pulled the kite out of the bush." Lupe is the main character, so many children assume she does everything, which makes this a useful check on careful listening. Replay the last part and ask "who pulled the kite out?"
Why the other answers are wrong
- Lupe — Lupe is the main character, so she is the default guess, but the story says Dad did it.
- a dog — There is no dog in this story. Children sometimes borrow a helper from another story they know.
