Mia: Mr. Vega, the fish looks hungry.

Mr. Vega: It is your turn to feed it, Mia. Give it just a little bit of food.

The question

Read the question and the three answers aloud to your child.

What does Mr. Vega tell Mia to do?

  • feed the fishCorrect answer
  • clean the fish tank
  • draw the fish

Why “feed the fish” is correct

Mia notices the fish looks hungry and Mr. Vega tells her it is her turn to feed it. The word "hungry" is a strong clue even before the answer comes. If your child is unsure, ask "what do we do when someone is hungry?" and then play Mr. Vega's line again.

Why the other answers are wrong

  • clean the fish tank — Cleaning the tank is a real classroom job, but nobody mentions it here.
  • draw the fish — Drawing is not mentioned. A child who picks this may have heard "fish" and chosen a familiar activity.
