Read image description
A girl stands in a grassy field. She holds one end of a long string. High above her, at the other end of the string, a bright paper diamond with long ribbon tails rides on the wind.
The question
Read the four sentences. Choose the one that best describes the picture.
Which sentence best describes the picture?
- A girl flies a kite in a field.Correct answer
- A girl holds a balloon on a string.
- A boy flies a kite in a field.
- A girl runs after a ribbon in the wind.
Why “A girl flies a kite in a field.” is correct
The picture never uses the word 'kite' — it describes a paper diamond with ribbon tails on a long string — so the child has to recognize the object before matching the sentence. Each wrong choice changes one thing: the object, the person, or the action. Ask your child who is in the picture, what she is holding, and what is at the other end of the string.
Why the other answers are wrong
- A girl holds a balloon on a string. — A balloon is also held on a string, but the thing in the picture is a paper diamond with ribbon tails, which is a kite.
- A boy flies a kite in a field. — This matches the action, but the picture shows a girl, not a boy.
- A girl runs after a ribbon in the wind. — The ribbons are the kite's tails, high in the air. The girl is standing and holding the string, not running after it.
