Hector: Hana, are you still taking the bus to the science museum this weekend?

Hana: I was going to, but I found out the museum is free on the first Sunday of every month, and that's next weekend. I'd rather wait and keep the ticket money.

Hector: Good point. Would you mind if I waited and went with you?

Hana: Not at all. We can meet at the bus stop on Main Street.

Why does Hana decide to wait before going to the science museum?

  • The museum will be free on the day she goes.Correct answer
  • The bus does not run on weekends.
  • Hector cannot go this weekend.
  • The museum is closed for repairs this weekend.

Why “The museum will be free on the day she goes.” is correct

This question asks for a speaker's reason. Hana explains that the museum "is free on the first Sunday of every month, and that's next weekend", and she would "rather wait and keep the ticket money". The detail about the first Sunday is the cause and keeping the money is the goal, so a student needs both halves of her sentence.

Why the other answers are wrong

  • The bus does not run on weekends. — They plan to meet at a bus stop, so the bus clearly runs.
  • Hector cannot go this weekend. — Hector asks to wait and go with her; nothing suggests he was unable to go.
  • The museum is closed for repairs this weekend. — Nobody says the museum is closed. Hana only wants to go on the free day.
